1. Design & Development
Market Research: Analyze fashion trends, customer needs, and competitor products.
Make Pattern & Digital Prototyping: Use design software (such as Adobe Illustrator, CLO 3D) to create digital styles.
Fabric & Trim Selection: Determine fabrics and accessories (buttons, zippers, labels, etc.). The final choice of trims and their functionality is decided according to the customer’s design and requirements.
2. Pattern Making & Sample Production
Pattern Making: Create paper or digital patterns based on design sketches.
Sample Production: Sew samples using the specified fabrics to test the design and pattern accuracy.
Fitting & Revisions: Conduct fitting sessions, make adjustments and revisions until the design meets expectations.
3. Material Sourcing & Pre-Production
Fabric & Accessories Sourcing: Purchase bulk materials according to production requirements.
Quality Inspection: Check colorfastness, shrinkage, strength, and other fabric quality standards.
Production Planning: Establish production schedules, factory allocation, and cost estimation.
4. Bulk Production
Fabric Pre-Treatment: Processes such as bleaching, dyeing, and printing.
Cutting Process: Cut fabrics in bulk according to pattern layouts.
Sewing Process: Assemble garments through factory production lines.
Pressing & Trimming: Iron garments, trim excess threads, and ensure a neat appearance.
Quality Control (QC): Inspect size accuracy, stitching quality, color consistency, and wash durability.
5. Finishing, Packaging & Delivery
Labeling & Tagging: Attach brand labels and hangtags.
Folding & Packing: Package products according to customer requirements (individual or bulk packing).
Warehousing & Shipping: Arrange storage and shipment to the customer’s destination.
6. After-Sales & Feedback
Customer Feedback: Collect consumer opinions to improve future products.
After-Sales Support: Handle returns, exchanges, and quality-related issues.
2. Fabric & Accessories & Size Measure
1. Fabric Selection, Approval & Quotation
Fabric Development: Select appropriate fabrics (such as cotton, polyester, spandex, etc.) according to design requirements.
Fabric Swatch Approval: Provide fabric swatches with different colors and textures for designer or customer confirmation.
Fabric Testing & Quality Control:
-
Shrinkage Test: Check fabric dimensional stability after washing.
-
Color Fastness Test: Ensure that the fabric maintains color without fading.
-
Abrasion Resistance Test: Test the fabric’s durability and wear resistance.
2. Sizing & Measurement Standards
Size Chart Development: Determine size specifications (S, M, L, XL, etc.) according to market standards or brand requirements.
Base Pattern Making: Create base patterns to serve as the foundation for size grading.
Fit Sample Testing: Conduct fitting tests to ensure proper sizing, comfort, and ergonomic design.
3. Fabric Pre-Treatment & Cutting
Fabric Pre-Shrinking: Pre-wash or pre-shrink fabrics to prevent shrinkage in finished garments.
Spreading & Inspection: Lay out fabrics and inspect for defects before cutting.
Grading & Marking:
-
Grade sizes (e.g., XS–XXL) according to standard measurement scales.
-
Ensure proportional balance across all sizes.
Cutting Process:
-
Use manual or computer-controlled cutting machines (such as laser cutters).
-
Label each fabric component (front panel, back panel, sleeve, etc.) after bulk cutting.
4. Sewing & Size Control
Measurement Inspection:
-
Inspect measurements during sewing to ensure compliance with size specifications.
Pressing & Finishing:
-
Iron garments after sewing to maintain shape and dimensional stability.
Final Quality Check:
-
Conduct final measurement tests for each size to ensure accuracy.
-
Verify that stitching does not alter dimensions (e.g., excessive tension causing shrinkage).
3. Pre-Production Sample (PPS)
1. Design & Planning
Market Research: Analyze fashion trends, target customer preferences, and competitor products.
Sketch Design: Designers create garment sketches to define the basic style, silhouette, and details.
Fabric & Trims Selection: Select fabrics, buttons, zippers, embroidery, printing, and other design elements.
Size Chart Development: Establish preliminary size specifications (S, M, L, XL, etc.).
2. Pattern Making & Sample Creation
Pattern Making:
Create paper or digital patterns based on design drawings using CAD software (such as Gerber or Lectra).
Fabric Cutting:
Cut prototype fabrics according to the pattern to ensure alignment with the design intent.
Sewing Prototype Sample:
Sew the initial sample according to construction standards to closely match the final product.
3. Prototype Fitting & Modifications
Fitting & Measurement Check:
Fit the prototype on a mannequin or live model to evaluate the fit and comfort.
Measure all key points to confirm consistency with the intended specifications.
Revisions & Adjustments:
Modify the pattern based on fitting results—such as adjusting waistline, shoulder line, or garment length.
Design & Trim Adjustments:
Refine fabric choices, accessories (buttons, zippers), prints, or embroidery details based on design feedback.
4. Prototype Approval & Finalization
Final Fitting & Approval:
Ensure the revised prototype meets both the design expectations and comfort standards.
Prototype Finalization:
Document final specifications, including fabric details, stitching methods, and construction requirements, to serve as reference for bulk production.
Client/Designer Approval:
Obtain final confirmation from the client or designer before proceeding to the next production phase.
